LGBT+ rep in books

hi, weirdfangirl here,

Sorry for the drought of posts. This is a post I started a while back but everything got deleted so I couldn’t post it. But now I’m back, re-writing it, and hoping to get a steady stream of posts going. The Good Omens rant is dead, but I might do something else on it in the future. So here are some of the best examples of LGBT+ representations in books that I’ve seen. Fell free to leave your own examples in the comments.

SPOILER WARNING FOR MOST OF THESE

Leigh Bardugo’s Grishaverse books:

  • Kaz and Inej are both asexual and in a relationship
  • Jesper is bisexual
  • So is Nina
  • Wylan is gay
  • So is Kuwei
  • Jesper and Wylan are in a relationship
  • Nikolai is implied to be bisexual/pansexual/omnisexual

Linsey Miller’s Mask of Shadows Duology:

  • Sal is genderfluid
  • Elise is bisexual/pansexual

Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens:

  • Angel’s and demons don’t have gender or sex, only represent them
  • Crowley and Aziraphale are in love
  • God is a woman*
  • Beelzebub is played by a woman and androgynous*
  • Pollution is non binary
  • Archangel Michael is played by a woman*

*This is in the show not the book, but I thought I’d include it anyway

Next post should be up next week.

😉

I'm listening to the audiobook of The Cruel Prince by Holly Black and one of the main characters Vivienne is bisexual. I have only listened to about a third of it so far so there might be more queer representation to come.

I know you've added a spoiler warning, but please add spoiler tags for their sexuality.
